So here’s why I’ve been so antisocial for a while… My first solo exhibition is going to be held at Turner Barnes Gallery in October and I’d love to see you guys at the preview on the 8th!
9th – 31st October 2015
Artist Reception: Thursday 8th October 6-9pmDistinctive, classic-style with a modern edge: the work of Sarah Scotchman, Essex artist, is gaining an increasing following in the UK and overseas.A popular artist at the Affordable Art Fairs in London, Singapore and Hong Kong, in 2014 Sarah’s last collection sold out across the London and Singapore shows. All That Glitters will run in conjunction with this year’s annual London, Battersea Affordable Art Fair (22-25th October), where Sarah will be showing for the third year. This year sees the release of her fourth screen-print incorporating 24ct gold leaf and dyed silver leaf. The process of creating pure coloured silver leaf involves taking genuine silver leaf, dying and coating it with a plastic resin. The result is a vibrant leaf, with the brightness of silver in a myriad of gorgeous jewel-like colours.Sarah’s figurative fine-art pieces capture the sensuality and elegance of the female form. Her new collection continues to showcase her classic style, but with an enticing modern edge. The collection includes hand-finished variable editions using metal-leaf, silkscreen and enamel, as well as originals that combine pigment and charcoal media, which, along with the use of high contrast lighting, give the pieces a great sense of drama and atmosphere. The pieces vary from bold images to softer, more delicate and yielding shapes.

All That Glitters will include a first chance to see Sarah’s new-style works which combine traditional life-casting with her new mixed-media approach. Life-casting is the process of creating delicate, 3D pieces through the use of moulding and casting techniques; the result is a high level of detail and realism. In this new collection, Sarah has constructed dreamy and elegant surroundings for these life-like pieces using various materials including metal-leaf, enamel wire, pigments and resin. The Turner | Barnes | Gallery will be offering you a first look at this new collection before it is shown at the Affordable Art Fairs in London and Singapore. All That Glitters, which runs from 9 – 31st October, will open with a private view on 8th October 6-9pm at the gallery in Shenfield, 21 Hutton Road, CM15 8JU, when Sarah Scotchman will be there to discuss her work with guests.
